Freedom for the handicapped

Millions of handicapped around the world are faced with virtually dozens of daily obstacles that prohibit them from leading a normal life. Simple tasks such as climbing stairs or curbs, reaching for an item on an upper shelf, or even looking at an eye level at a loved one is a virtual impossibility. Solutions for this problem have thus far failed to reach the vast majority of those in need for a variety of reasons including price, ease of use and regulation.
Galileo’s unique wheel & track mobile technology provides for a wheelchair that can climb up and down stairs or curbs, travel across grass, gravel and sand (track mode), remain quick and nimble across normal surfaces such as pavement (wheel mode) and support a full upright position. Current POC supported a 280lb individual up and down a steep staircase and across sand. Galileo’s vision is to package these capabilities in a safe, intuitive platform and price it comparably to a standard power wheelchair.
A worldwide trend of disabled people switching from manual to powered wheelchairs, an aging population in such countries as the U.S. where the Baby Boomers are reaching retirement age or in Japan when the elderly make a greater percent of the total population every year, combine for an ever growing need for such a wheelchair.
